James

Manager

James joined Elliott Bay Animal Hospital as a Practice Manager in January 2026, bringing his collaborative leadership style and over 20 years of experience in animal welfare and veterinary care. He first fell in love with animal care in high school when he volunteered at the local animal shelter. As he became increasingly more interested in learning operations, medical care, and behavioral care for animals, his passion blossomed into a fulfilling lifelong vocation.

Over the past two decades, James has managed large-scale operations at animal shelters with veterinary hospitals, led statewide initiatives for animal welfare, and taught national courses on shelter leadership and best practices for animal welfare and sheltering. James takes a people-first approach, prioritizing the welfare of both people and animals. He is committed to building supportive, thriving workplace cultures that empower staff and volunteers to do their best work. He is particularly inspired by community-centered animal welfare models that expand access to veterinary care and focus on keeping families together.

“I hope to make an impact on the lives of pets and people. I am very passionate about animal behavior and cooperative care models for improving the relationship between animals and humans,” James shared. “It is most rewarding to see how our work positively impacts pets and their families.” He is thrilled to be a part of a team that shares his dedication to high ethical standards and quality veterinary services, and is excited to work alongside his team to achieve their community-focused goals.
