Dog of the Month, December 2019: Gracie
Gracie, an 11-year-old greyhound originally rescued by the team at Greyhound Pets Inc., is the Bothell Pet Hospital Pet of the Month.
Gracie had a rough start to her life. After her initial rescue, she was faced with a bit of a setback after her then foster parent had to be hospitalized for a serious medical condition. This left sweet Gracie unattended for a handful of days. Luckily the team at Greyhounds Pets Inc. (GPI) were soon notified so they could take her back in and get her the care she needed. This is where longtime GPI volunteer and foster parent Dave spotted her and was immediately smitten.
“Our family just knew when we met Gracie that she belonged in our home,” said Gracie’s new dad Dave. “Once there, she quickly bonded with our other greyhounds, Ranger and Raven, and took to our grandkids and all the love they had to share.”
Gracie, also known as “Gracie Girl” or “Foodie Girl” (due to her love of snacks), has really begun to shine in her new home.
Continued Dave, “Sometimes when Gracie gets really excited she will run to the toy box and grab a stuffy and wildly toss it about. That said, she is still pretty quiet most of the time. She may start rooing a bit when her food is being prepared, but otherwise she settles in and just loves to get neck and head scratches and massages.”
Gracie visited the team at Bothell Pet Hospital soon after getting placed in her new home as she has developed an infection from a previous minor surgery. Luckily she is on the mend and back at her new, permanent home where she is getting all the love in the world. Gracie has new friends, a growing family and the peace and quiet space she so desperately needed. Congrats on your new home sweet Gracie Girl!
