Dog of the Month, August 2019: Kodi

Kodi, a 10-year-old Schipperke, is a retired AKC champion, survivor and the Bothell Pet Hospital August Dog of the Month.

Kodi, also known as Code Man, came into his owner’s life after being rescued from some unhealthy living conditions at a previous home. His overall care had been terribly neglected, but with a little love and healing hands, he is now living his best life with his new owner.

“I have showed Schipperkes for more than 36 years and rescued Greyhounds for 20 years,” said Kodi’s owner Vicki. “Due to some health problems of my own, I thought I was done raising dogs and caring for special needs pets; then came Kodi who so desperately needed my love and attention.”

Continued Vicki, “Poor Kodi was covered with fleas, had really bad teeth, stunk due to poor hygiene and had heartworms. Thankfully, Bothell Pet Hospital was able to step in and help get Kodi what he needed to get healthy and battle the heartworms. The rest was up to me.”

Now on the mend, Kodi is thriving and enjoying a dog’s life. He has his squeaky plush toys which he loves, plenty of yummy treats and a perfect spot to sunbathe in his back yard.

“Kodi is loving, happy, friendly, sweet, alert and intelligent,” said Vicki. “After facing such terrible loss, including the passing of my husband, Kodi has brought me such joy and companionship. He has truly become my soulmate.”
